“Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” was planning to crossover with “Riverdale” prior to the show being cancelled by Netflix this week…
A long awaited crossover between “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” and “Riverdale” was likely in the works until Netflix pulled the plug on the witchy series earlier this week.
On Friday, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa — who created both series — put on a tweet that confirmed his plans to finally see characters from “Riverdale” step into the “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” universe during season 5.
“Thank you for all the love, “Chilling Adventure of Sabrina” fans,” Aguirre-Sacasa wrote on Twitter. “Part Four is our best yet and Part Five, “Witch War,” would’ve been AMAZING. To be continued in the pages of #CAOS comic book.”

The two shows have always existed in the same shared universe with “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” taking place in the town of Greendale, which sits on the border with Riverdale. Both shows have crossed over into each other’s towns over the past few seasons and “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” even featured a minor character from “Riverdale” as well as a mention of traveling to Pops Chock-Lit shoppe for dinner one night.
Ultimately for all the hints, the two shows never actually crossed paths but it appears that was the plan until Netflix decided to cancel “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” with the fourth and final season set to air on the streaming service later this year.
It appears the crossover will still happen — but it will take place in the “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” comic book instead of television.
Of course there’s always an outside chance one or two characters from “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” eventually makes an appearance on “Riverdale,” which was already renewed for a new season by the CW earlier this year.
The final season of “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” will debut on Netflix in late 2020.
