“Chucky” — the series based on the 1980s horror film “Child’s Play” — has officially been renewed for season 2 on USA Network and Syfy….
“Chucky” will return to kill again.
The horror series spawned by the classic “Child’s Play” franchise started in 1988 has officially been renewed for season 2 ahead of the season 1 finale, which airs on Tuesday night.
“Chucky,” which was created by prolific horror icon Don Mancini, has been a co-promotion for both USA Network and the Syfy network while returning solid ratings all year long since the show first debuted.
“We’re thrilled to start pulling the strings on a second season of puppet mayhem with Chucky,” Mancini said in a statement. “Many thanks to our partners at USA, SYFY and UCP for their incredible support and guidance bringing ‘Chucky’ to the small screen, bigger than ever.
“And to the fans, Chucky sends his still-undying thanks, and a message: ‘This isn’t over, not by a long shot. You better watch your backs in 2022.’”
The series picks up after the seventh film in the franchise “Cult of Chucky” was released in 2017 with a cast that includes Brad Dourif as the voice of Chucky alongside his daughter Fiona Dourif, Alex Vincent, Christine Elise McCarthy and Jennifer Tilly — who all starred in previous films in the series — along with Zackary Arthur, Teo Briones, Alyvia Alyn Lind, Bjorgvin Arnarson, Lex Doig and Devon Sawa.
“Chucky” season 2 will debut in 2022 but first the season 1 finale will air on USA and Syfy on Tuesday night at 10 p.m. ET.
