Showtime’s gritty Boston crime drama “City on a Hill” has officially been renewed for season 3….
“City on a Hill” will return for season 3 on Showtime.
The gritty crime drama set in early 1990s Boston has officially been renewed by the premium cable outlet after the season 2 finale aired just recently.
The series stars Aldis Hodge (Invisible Man, Black Adam) as an idealistic district attorney in the city of Boston, who often times butts heads with his own bosses not to mention local authorities, while engaging in a tense partnership (at times) with corrupt FBI agent Jackie Rohr, played by the great Kevin Bacon.
Season 2 of “City on a Hill” focused on a growing gang population in the Boston inner city that eventually led to a shooting where a young child was killed by a wayward bullet. That brought down the hammer on the entire community where one leader was caught up between her own work to improve the area for the people who lived there and the loyalty for her family after discovering that her sons were involved in the local gangs.
When the season ended, DeCourcy Ward (Hodge) was fuming at the powers-that-be who killed a suspect rather than capturing him unharmed while Jackie was facing the end of his career after a new U.S. District Attorney did everything possible to force him into retirement.
The series counts Boston favorites Ben Affleck and Matt Damon as executive producers.
“City on a Hill” season 3 is expected to go into production later this year with a 2022 release date on Showtime.
