While it’s welcome news, “Cobra Kai” returning for season 5 isn’t exactly a surprise considering the massive streaming numbers the series has pulled since first debuting on Netflix. Add to that, the show is finally getting some much deserved critical acclaim after “Cobra Kai” was nominated for Best Comedy Series at the 2021 Emmy Awards.
Season 4 will debut in December with an exact date still to be announced.
The end of “Cobra Kai” season 4 saw John Kreese strengthen his grip over the Cobra Kai dojo before calling on an old friend to return and help him in his quest to vanquish Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence once and for all. That friend is none other than Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith), who was Kreese’s benefactor and friend back in “The Karate Kid III” when he made it his personal mission to destroy Daniel and Mr. Miyagi.
Griffith has already been confirmed to return for “Cobra Kai” season 4, which will also feature Daniel and Johnny teaming up for the first time after they combined their academies in order to do battle with Kreese at the All-Valley Karate Tournament.
Obviously the story will now continue into “Cobra Kai” season 5, which will likely go into production later this year or in early 2022.
