The long teased character who will be crossing over between ‘The Walking Dead’ and ‘Fear the Walking Dead’ has finally been revealed.
Morgan — played by the great Lennie James — has been confirmed as the character who will exit ‘The Walking Dead’ during season 8 and then reappear during ‘Fear the Walking Dead’ when season 4 of that show debuts during the late spring in 2018.
The news was revealed during Sunday night’s episode of ‘Talking Dead’.
James will continue to appear on ‘The Walking Dead’ during season 8, which just finished filming in Atlanta this past week and he now begins filming on ‘Fear the Walking Dead’ in Texas on Monday.
There are no details yet on the story that will lead to the crossover as Morgan exits his role as one of the safe keepers at the Kingdom to venture west where the characters in ‘Fear the Walking Dead’ currently resides but the character was already dealing with some residual post traumatic stress at the end of his last appearance where he went on a killing spree to talk out the Saviors and then got into a fight with Jesus over whether or not it was ethical to kill the prisoners they took during the battle.
“Even though Morgan is going to be featured on ‘Fear the Walking Dead’, he has a lot of story left on ‘The Walking Dead’,” executive producer Scott M. Gimple said in a statement. “There’s also a whole rest of season 8 of ‘The Walking Dead’ to look forward to as well. Morgan’s arc in season 8 positioned him for the ‘Fear’ and it was also important to see ‘Fear’s world and characters through new yet familiar eyes.”
In the preview for next week’s episode of ‘The Walking Dead’, Morgan makes his return after not appearing in the past couple weeks.
Once James makes his final appearance on ‘The Walking Dead’, he will officially crossover to become a main cast member on ‘Fear the Walking Dead’ going forward.
‘Fear the Walking Dead’ returns in 2018.
