“Deadpool 3” will finally showcase Hugh Jackman in a comic accurate yellow costume for Wolverine for the first time ever…
Wolverine: “You actually go outside in these things?”
Cyclops: “What would you prefer? Yellow spandex?”
That tongue-in-cheek line included in 2000’s “X-Men” movie was a not so subtle nod to the comic book accurate costume worn by Wolverine that later became even more popularized during the “X-Men: Animated Series” that ran during the 1990s.
Despite the joke — and the appearance of a yellow costume in a briefcase in a deleted scene from “The Wolverine” from 2013 — actor Hugh Jackman never actually put on the outfit despite a longstanding outcry from fans that wanted to see it happen.
Well now that has all changed.

In a new photo released from the set where “Deadpool 3” is currently being filmed, Jackman is seen rocking the classic yellow Wolverine outfit from the comic books and “X-Men: Animated Series” while he walks alongside co-star Ryan Reynolds.
It’s a fitting nod to Jackman’s return as the character after he actually retired from playing Wolverine following 2017’s “Logan.” Jackman appeared done with the character until he made the surprise announcement that he would return alongside Reynolds in the upcoming “Deadpool 3,” which is set for release in theaters on May 3, 2024.
Shawn Levy is directing the upcoming sequel, which is slated to be the first “R” rated feature from Marvel Studios. “Deadpool 3” will also be the first official crossover film from characters previously owned by 20th Century Fox, which were then acquired as part of a larger sale to Disney.
Now all of the X-Men characters are eventually expected to appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe but “Deadpool 3” will kick that off in 2024.
Details about the film are unknown, although all signs are pointing towards a film crossing over the multiverse, which would then allow Deadpool (and presumably Wolverine) to officially join the MCU. The star-studded cast also includes “Succession” favorite Matthew Macfayden and “The Crown” star Emma Corrin, who is expected to portray a villain in the upcoming film.
