Diana Rigg — a star of film and television for more than 50 years — has passed away at the age of 82.
According to her daughter Rachael Stirling, Rigg died after being diagnosed with cancer earlier this year.
“She spent her last months joyfully reflecting on her extraordinary life, full of love, laughter and a deep pride in her profession,” Stirling said in a statement released on Thursday.
Rigg first came to prominence in her role in the 1960’s television series “The Avengers” where she played Emma Peel. In 1969, Rigg made her first big splash in films when she starred opposite George Lazenby in the James Bond film “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service.” To date, she’s the only woman who ever married James Bond in one of the long running spy films.
More recently, Rigg is best known for her role on the HBO series “Game of Thrones” where she played Lady Olenna Tyrell. Rigg first appeared during season 3 of the series and she became a mainstay on the show through season 7.
