Director Todd Phillips has revealed a first look at Joaquin Phoenix before he gets into makeup in the new ‘Joker’ movie…
It appears the Joker has a first name and it’s Arthur.
On Sunday, director Todd Phillips released a first look at Joaquin Phoenix — minus the makeup — from his new solo, stand alone ‘Joker’ movie that’s currently in production before hitting theaters in 2019.
Phillips only said ‘Arthur’ when releasing the photo, obviously noting that this is before he becomes the Joker.
Phillips will be telling the Joker’s origin story with rumors that he’s a failed stand up comedian, who is caring for an ailing mother before his transformation into Batman’s greatest villain.
There’s not much else known about the highly publicized ‘Joker’ movie but Phoenix will play the lead role with a supporting cast that includes Robert DeNiro, Zazie Beetz and Marc Maron.
‘Joker’ is due out in theaters on October 4, 2019.
