Donald Glover and his brother Stephen closed a deal prior to the writer’s strike to develop a new “Lando” series for Disney+…
It looks like Donald Glover is ready to return to the “Star Wars” universe.
After portraying a younger Lando Calrissian in “Solo: A Star Wars Story,” Glover and his brother Stephen Glover have been hired to develop a new “Lando” spinoff series for Disney+.
The brother tandem reportedly closed a deal with Disney and Lucasfilm prior to the ongoing writer’s strike as they stake over for Justin Simien, who was originally developing the “Lando” series until time constraints just got too tough as he completed work on his latest film, Disney’s “Haunted Mansion.” which opened on Friday.
Originally portrayed by Billy Dee Williams in “The Empire Strikes Back” and “Return of the Jedi” before reprising his role for the latest trilogy, Glover played the scoundrel turned hero in “Solo” opposite Alden Ehrenreich as a young Han Solo.
There’s no word yet if Glover will reprise his role as Lando Calrissian for the upcoming spinoff series, although it would seem to make sense, especially now that he’s developing the series alongside his brother.
While Glover is well known for his acting credits as well as his music career under the moniker Childish Gambino, he’s also become a prolific creator with his work on the FX series “Atlanta” as well as the critically acclaimed series “Swarm” on Amazon Prime. Glover also served as writer, executive producer and actor in the upcoming reboot of “Mr. and Mrs. Smith” for Amazon Prime.
Now it appears Glover will wear a lot of different hats again for the “Lando” series in development at Disney+.
