The Mother of Dragons herself Emilia Clarke offered a heartfelt goodbye to ‘Game of Thrones’ just ahead of the series finale on Sunday night…
When ‘Game of Thrones’ began filming nearly a decade ago, Emilia Clarke had done two very minor acting roles on television before she was cast in the fantasy epic that would go onto become one of the biggest shows in history.
Now just hours away from the series finale of ‘Game of Thrones’, Clarke is saying goodbye to the series and her role as Daenerys Targaryen for the last time.
While filming on the final season of ‘Game of Thrones’ wrapped up last year, Clarke has been engaged with promoting the show for months as Sunday night’s finale kept drawing closer and closer.
Clarke has become synonymous with her character on ‘Game of Thrones’ but she finally has to say goodbye to Daenerys as the series comes to an end this weekend.
“Finding the words to write this post has left me overwhelmed with how much I want to say but how small words feel in comparison to what this show and Dany have meant to me,” Clarke wrote on Instagram. “The mother of dragons chapter has taken up the whole of my adult life. This woman has taken up the whole of my heart. I’ve sweated in the blaze of dragon fire, shed many tears at those who left our family early, and wrung my brain dry trying to do Khaleesi and the masterful words, actions (and names) I was given, justice.
“Game of Thrones has shaped me as a woman, as an actor and as a human being. I just wish my darling dad was here now to see how far we’ve flown.
But to you, dear kind magical fans, I owe you so much thanks, for your steady gaze at what we’ve made and what I’ve done with a character that was already in the hearts of many before I slipped on the platinum wig of dreams. Without you there is no us.“And now our watch has ended.”
Clarke was one of a handful of actors who started with the first episode and remained an omnipresent force all the way through to the finale this weekend.
‘Game of Thrones’ concludes Sunday night at 9 p.m. ET with a full recap coming afterwards on Nerdcore Movement!
