As shooting gets underway, details and plot information for the sequel to ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ have been revealed…
Production is getting started for the sequel to ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ after the release of the first film last year that takes place in the same universe as the Harry Potter books and movies.
On Monday, plot details were unveiled for the ‘Fantastic Beasts’ sequel including the first mention of Albus Dumbledore, who will be played by Jude Law in the sequel. Johnny Depp will return to play Gellert Grindelwald — the evil wizard who will serve as the primary antagonist in the film as well as Eddie Redmayne reprising his part as magizooligist Newt Scamander.
“Grindelwald has made a dramatic escape and has been gathering more followers to his cause — elevating wizards above all non-magical beings. The only one who might be able to stop him is the wizard he once called his dearest friend, Albus Dumbledore. But Dumbledore will need help from the wizard who had thwarted Grindelwald once before, his former student Newt Scamander.”
There have been hints that the film may reference a past relationship between Dumbledore and Grindelwald but that remains just a rumor as filming for the sequel gets underway.
The second ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ film is due out in 2018.
