The first episode of ‘Game of Thrones’ season 7 could best be described as setting the stage for the many wars to come.
It appears more chess pieces will be moving across the board in the second episode titled ‘Stormborn’ that will debut next Sunday night on HBO.
“A Targaryen cannot be trusted”
Those are the words from Yohn Royce, one of the commanding officers of the Vale of Arryn, who has joined Jon Snow after assisting him in defeating Ramsay Bolton a season ago. The warning may be reference to a note that Jon could have received from his friend Samwell Tarly, who discovered in the debut episode that there’s a mountain of dragon glass hiding under Dragonstone, the ancestral seat of House Targaryen.
Dragonstone has now been reclaimed by Daenerys Targaryen so perhaps this is a partnership Jon hopes to build so that he can get the weapons he needs to fight the army of the dead, who he believes will be knocking at his door any moment.
Meanwhile, Cersei is building support to go up against Daenerys by reminding her people that she is the daughter of the “Mad King” and she’s awaiting her new partnership with Euron Greyjoy to bear fruit.
As for Daenerys, she’s putting together her strategy to take down Cersei and Yara Greyjoy believes now is the time to just hit King’s Landing before they know what’s coming for them.
The final flashes in the preview show Yara kissing Ellaria Sand, Jon Snow grabbing Petyr Baelish by the throat and much more.
