As the highly anticipated ‘Black Widow’ movie starts to come together for Marvel, Florence Pugh is the latest actress to get into negotiations to join the cast…
It took a long time but Scarlett Johansson is finally leading her own Marvel movie as ‘Black Widow’ looks to get into production in the near future.
Now it appears the cast is starting to grow with negotiations ongoing to add some more star power to the upcoming film.
Florence Pugh — best known for her recent role in ‘Fighting with My Family’ as well as ‘The Outlaw King’ on Netflix — is in talks to join the upcoming ‘Black Widow’ movie that is expected to serve as an origin story of sorts for the character Johansson has made famous in several Marvel films over the past decade.
Cate Shortland is on board to direct and while details about the story are sketchy at best, ‘Black Widow’ is expected to be an international spy thriller focused on Natasha Romanoff — an ex-KGB trained operative, who breaks away from her Russian handlers before joining S.H.I.E.L.D. and eventually becoming one of the founding members of The Avengers.
It’s reported that Pugh would play a spy at the same level as Johansson’s character but without the same moral compass that eventually leads her to join The Avengers Initiative after meeting up with Nick Fury.
There’s no word yet on when ‘Black Widow’ will go into production but with casting underway, it’s likely that Marvel would look to get into filming before the end of 2019.
