Former “Game of Thrones” showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss will be producing a new movie based on a Vertigo Comics book titled “Lovecraft”…
Rather than traveling to a galaxy far, far away, former “Game of Thrones” showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss will be tackling a horror movie instead as they have signed onto produce an adaptation of the Vertigo Comics title “Lovecraft.”
Based on real life author H.P. Lovecraft, the comic book title bearing his name is a story based around the idea that the creatures that the iconic horror writer penned into his novels were actually real.
Originally written by Hans Rodionoff with art by Keith Giffin, “Lovecraft” is described as “a fascinating but disturbing study of one of America’s greatest horror writers, the intense LOVECRAFT examines the bizarre life of author and recluse, Howard Phillips Lovecraft. Since his early childhood in the late 1800’s Lovecraft was haunted with dark visions of demons and death. Trapped in a world of macabre creatures and grotesque thoughts, the writer found escape only by weaving his living nightmares into fictional blood curling horror stories. An uncensored tour into a troubled mind, this beautifully painted hardcover edition traces the toils of a man considered both mentally ill and genius as he stumbles across the fine line between reality and insanity.”
Benioff and Weiss are producing the film with Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi — who wrote “The Invitation” and “Ride Along” — set to develop the script for a Warner Bros. production.
The former “Game of Thrones” creators have stayed busy since the Emmy winning show came to an end earlier this year. They were originally slated to direct a trio of “Star Wars” films but they left that project in favor of focusing on a nine-figure deal to develop films and TV series for Netflix.
Now it appears they will make time to produce “Lovecraft” for Warner Bros., although its unknown at this time if Benioff and Weiss might also take a stab at directing the film as well.
