The upcoming “Alien” series from Noah Hawley has cast the first major role with “Don’t Worry Darling” star Sydney Chandler joining the show…
The highly anticipated “Alien” TV series on FX has found one of the leading stars.
Sydney Chandler — best known for her role in “Don’t Worry Darling” — has been cast as one of the main leads in the upcoming show from “Fargo” and “Legion” showrunner Noah Hawley.
“I cannot explain how over the moon my sci-fi self is!” Chandler wrote in reaction to the news. “I’m still pinching myself. Repeatedly. Sci-fi has been my escape ever since I was a little kid. The infamous Sigourney Weaver as Ripley was the one hero I ever taped up onto my wall. I cannot express.
“I’m ready to work my ass off and give this project all the blood, sweat, and tears. So, so thankful. Here we go.”

Very little is known about the new “Alien” series other than the show won’t serve as a direct prequel or sequel to any of the prior films in the series, which also means no inclusion whatsoever of Sigourney Weaver’s Ellen Ripley.
FX CEO John Landgraf previously teased plans for the “Alien” series after it was first picked up back in 2020 but it’s unknown if the show has stayed the same through various rewrites and plans for production.
“It’s the first story in the Alien franchise that takes place on Earth,” Landgraf teased. “It takes place on our planet, near the end of this century we’re currently in — 70-odd years from now. I hope they will feel like it’s faithful to the franchise they love but also a brave and original reinvention of that franchise.
“Setting it on Earth is really interesting. We have to think forward about the future of the planet in terms of the environment, governance, technology and create and design a version of the planet in the future … Noah wants to do that in a distinctive and original way.”
The original “Alien” film directed by Ridley Scott is hailed as one of the greatest science-fiction horror films of all time. The sequel “Aliens,” which was directed by James Cameron is also widely regarded as another massive achievement in filmmaking.
There have been numerous sequels since then as well as a pair of prequel films but this will be the first “Alien” TV series with Chandler as the first major casting for the show.
