The pair that made ‘Wonder Woman’ a hit with critics and audiences alike will return for a sequel…
‘Wonder Woman’ opened in theaters nationwide this weekend and the early returns say this film will be a juggernaut at the box office for DC and Warner Bros.
But not only was the movie a hit with audiences, but critics have been raving about the film — including our own review that hailed ‘Wonder Woman’ as a massive cinematic success for the comic book industry — and that’s a nice change of pace after DC and Warner Bros. had been taking it on the chin for the last few films released in recent years.
Now there’s even more good news to celebrate about ‘Wonder Woman’ because Gal Gadot — who plays the lead role as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman — and director Patty Jenkins are already contractually on board for a sequel.
According to a report from the Hollywood Reporter, Gadot and Jenkins have signed for a sequel, which seems like a no brainer considering the considerable success of ‘Wonder Woman’ already on opening weekend.
The plan for the ‘Wonder Woman’ sequel — assuming Warner Bros. gives it the green light — is a more modern, contemporary setting after the first film took place during the final days of World War I.
Of course, Gadot’s Wonder Woman will next be seen in the upcoming ‘Justice League’ film where she teams up with Ben Affleck and director Zack Snyder again after first working together on ‘Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice’.
‘Justice League’ opens on November 17 and it shouldn’t take long for DC and Warner Bros. to order up the sequel for ‘Wonder Woman’ considering how much success the film has had already.
