There’s still not a trailer for the final season of ‘Game of Thrones’ but the show did manage to make an appearance at the Super Bowl through a new Bud Light ad…
In a slight call back to the first season of ‘Game of Thrones’, the ‘Mountain’ sparred with another knight in a joust — this time for a Bud Light commercial for the Super Bowl.
While it was known ahead of time that ‘Game of Thrones’ wouldn’t drop a trailer during the big game on Sunday night, the series did manage to make a surprise appearance during a Bud Light commercial where ‘The Mountain’ Gregor Clegane engaged in a joust with the ‘Bud Knight’.
The end result not only called back to the joust from season one but also the infamous episode where ‘The Mountain’ battled Oberyn Martell in a trial by combat. And they even managed to have a dragon show up at the end of the commercial to roast everybody in the courtyard.
The spot was directed by David Nutter, who will also be helming several episodes in the final season of ‘Game of Thrones’ as well.
The final season of ‘Game of Thrones’ debuts on HBO on Sunday night, April 14 at 9 p.m. ET. Check out the commercial above.
