A new “Game of Thrones” series focused on Jon Snow after the final season of the show is currently in development at HBO….
A new “Game of Thrones” spinoff is currently in the works at HBO except this time it will be a series that goes beyond the original show that ended after eight season.
A Jon Snow centered sequel is now in development at the network with Kit Harington already attached to star in the project should it move forward to series. Harington would reprise the role he played throughout the original “Game of Thrones” series with the first stories told beyond the much maligned eighth season of the popular show.
When “Game of Thrones” ended, Jon Snow had learned that he was actually Aegon Targaryen — the rightful heir to the Iron Throne — but after killing his aunt and former lover Daenerys Targaryen, he was banished from Westeros forever. As a result, Jon Snow decided to leave the Seven Kingdoms and journey north beyond the Wall where he would live out the rest of his days.
Now it appears a new story centered around Jon Snow would tell exactly what happened to him after “Game of Thrones” ended, although exact details on the story remain a mystery.
This would be the first set of stories that go beyond creator George R.R. Martin’s original vision for the series, which was brought to life on television by David Benioff and Dan Weiss.
Since “Game of Thrones” ended Harington has stayed plenty busy including his recent role in the Marvel Studios film “The Eternals” with plans for his character, Dane Whitman, to reappear in future films and possibly TV series as well.
If this sequel series gets picked up at HBO — and Harington being involved seems to hint that it will happen — he would have another massive project ahead of him, except this time he would take the starring role.
There are numerous “Game of Thrones” spinoff series in development at HBO with “House of the Dragon” — which documents the great Targaryen civil war known as the Dance of Dragons — already set to debut in August. The Jon Snow series would be the latest and possibly the biggest yet considering it would carry on the story from the character, who was so popular in “Game of Thrones.”
