There will be a ‘Game of Thrones’ reunion in Marvel’s ‘The Eternals’ as Kit Harington has joined the cast alongside Richard Madden…
‘Game of Thrones’ star Kit Harington is joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
On Saturday at D23 in Anaheim, Calif., it was revealed that Harington would be joining the cast of ‘The Eternals’, which already features a star-studded group of actors including Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayak and Richard Madden.
Madden previously starred as Robb Stark in ‘Game of Thrones’ alongside Harington until he left the show following season 3.
In ‘The Eternals’, Harington will portray Dane Whitman, the alter ego to a character known as ‘The Black Knight’ in the comics. There was previously a villainous Black Knight but when Whitman took up the mantle, he was a hero who eventually joined The Avengers. Whitman was in a relationship with Sersi from The Eternals and it was announced on Saturday that Gemma Chan would be playing that role in the upcoming movie.
‘The Eternals’ will be Harington’s first major role since he wrapped up eight seasons playing Jon Snow on ‘Game of Thrones’. He now joins the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the studio prepares to launch ‘Phase Four’ following the conclusion of the ‘Infinity Saga’.
Before ‘The Eternals’ left the stage at D23, Marvel also revealed a first look at the character concept art that showed all of the major characters — minus Harington — in their costumes.
