‘GLOW’ will return for one last run at the ring as the series has been renewed for a fourth and final season on Netflix…
The Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling will have one final match before the curtain falls.
On Friday, Netflix officially renewed ‘GLOW’ for a fourth and final season that is expected to debut on the streaming service sometime in 2020. The Emmy nominated series starring Alison Brie and Betty Gilpin has been a critical and commercial favorite for Netflix since first debuting.
Based loosely on the real life series titled ‘Glow: The Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling’, the series followed the exploits of a group of actresses who are brought together to form an all-women’s wrestling promotion in Los Angeles. Last season, ‘GLOW’ moved locations to Las Vegas with the third season ending on a cliffhanger that will obviously be resolved in the final season.
“Excited to announce that GLOW will be back for a fourth and final season!” Brie wrote on Instagram following the announcement. “I wish I never had to say goodbye to these characters, but I am so grateful to get one more round with our incredible team. You better believe we’re GLOWing out with a bang!”
While ‘GLOW’ will receive a final season, Netflix’s decision to only renew the series for one more installment is somewhat surprising given the overall appeal of this show. ‘GLOW’ has been nominated for numerous awards and just recently picked up an Emmy for the stunt work done on the series.
Unfortunately, Netflix has a tendency to re-evaluate many of their original series after the third season with numerous shows not picked up again. In this instance at least ‘GLOW” will get a fourth and final season with 10 episodes to wrap up the story.
