It looks like Gotham is cruising towards a renewal for season 5 on FOX after the Batman prequel was shifted to Thursday nights this year…
It appears that Bruce Wayne’s journey towards Batman will continue in Gotham season 5.
While the series hasn’t been officially renewed yet, FOX television chairman Gary Newman sounds hopeful that Gotham will return for a fifth season as the network continues to shake things up after the majority of the company’s assets were sold to Disney in a massive deal earlier this year.
The good news for Gotham was the show was already being produced by Warner Bros. so FOX isn’t going to spend anymore money on the series than it was already planning and it sounds like the ratings for the show are good enough to bring it back for at least another year — if not more.
“We asked a lot of it this year moving to Thursday nights and I thought it did a pretty good job of opening up that night for us,” Newman told Deadline when speaking about Gotham. “I feel like Gotham should have a place in our schedule.”
“Hopefully there’s more years of Gotham.”
Gotham has been a solid ratings performer for FOX since first debuting and it appears while the network is targeting 80-percent of their future programming to be live — mostly sports — it seems that the Batman prequel will still have a home there.
