“Halloween Ends” will be available both theatrically and through the Peacock streaming service at the same time with the release date set for October 14.
The news was delivered in a special announcement featuring series star Jamie Lee Curtis, who will return to play Laurie Strode one final time for the upcoming third film in the current trilogy from director David Gordon Green.
The decision to release “Halloween Ends” on the same day in theaters and through Peacock mirrors the previous prequel “Halloween Kills,” which had the same release scheduled with that film dropped in 2021.
Here’s the synopsis for “Halloween Ends,” which features a significant time jump between the previous movie and this final installment in the trilogy:
“Four years after the events of last year’s Halloween Kills, Laurie is living with her granddaughter Allyson (Andi Matichak) and is finishing writing her memoir. Michael Myers hasn’t been seen since. Laurie, after allowing the specter of Michael to determine and drive her reality for decades, has decided to liberate herself from fear and rage and embrace life. But when a young man, Corey Cunningham (Rohan Campbell; The Hardy Boys, Virgin River), is accused of killing a boy he was babysitting, it ignites a cascade of violence and terror that will force Laurie to finally confront the evil she can’t control, once and for all.”
