The first look at Pinhead from the upcoming “Hellraiser” film has been revealed along with the director teasing some plot details….
A brand new “Hellraiser” will land on Hulu on October 7 and we’ve got our first look at Jamie Clayton as the updated version of Pinhead as she takes over a role made famous by Doug Bradley in the previous films in the franchise.
Clayton posted the first photo on social media as she becomes the first woman to portray Pinhead in the latest film based on original stories by Clive Barker.

The upcoming “Hellraiser” film will be directed by David Bruckner, who received praise for his work on the film “The Night House,” which was released in 2020. Bruckner also re-teamed with writers Ben Collins and Luke Piotrowski on the script for the film.
While many have painted the upcoming “Hellraiser” as a remake of the original film released in 1987, Bruckner clarified that his version is a totally new story with many of the same characters — particularly the devious Cenobites led by Pinhead.
“This is not a remake,” Bruckner told EW. “I just didn’t think you could ever remake the original Hellraiser. It’s too much its own thing and it would be, I think, perilous territory for filmmakers, because how do you top that? This is a new story in the Hellraiser universe.”
This version of “Hellraiser” centers around a character named Riley, who is played by Odessa A’zion. in the lead role.
“It’s the tale of a young woman, who’s struggling with addiction and compulsive behavior, that comes in contact accidentally with the box and unfortunately begins to dabble with it,” Bruckner said. “And chaos ensues.”
The puzzle box also known as the Lament Configuration once again serves as the centerpiece of the film with A’zion’s character getting a little too familiar with the forces unleashed whenever she unlocks it.
Of course that means dealing with the sinister Cenobites led by Pinhead, who became a horror icon from the first film, with Clayton bringing her own take the the character rather than trying to mimic anything Bradley did before her.
“We felt a kind of anticipation around the fans to reimagine the character,” Bruckner said about casting Clayton, a trans woman “We knew we wanted Pinhead to be a woman. Jamie was just the right person for the role. A person’s identity can be really exciting for a role in many ways, but I have to emphasize that Jamie absolutely killed, that’s how we got there.
“What Doug Bradley did with the character is so iconic. We didn’t want to do a Doug Bradley impression, we just didn’t think that’s possible to do. There will be suffering, but you’re going to get a sense of what Pinhead’s desires might be in a way that hits a little different.”
According to Bruckner, the writers actually pitched a “Hellraiser” story that loosely became the inspiration for “The Night House,” which they all worked on together.
“Night House was loosely inspired by a Hellraiser pitch that Ben and Luke had gone in with back in 2012, 2013, when the rights were still with Dimension,” Bruckner revealed. “When I was in post- for the Night House, Spyglass (the production company Spyglass Media Group) brought in Ben and Luke to do a first draft and [then] brought me into the fold.”
Now the trio is back together again for “Hellraiser,” which is quickly become one of the most talked about horror films set for release in October.
Stay tuned for a trailer, which will likely be coming soon with the film dropping on Hulu on Oct. 7.
