‘Homeland’ is coming to an end.
After star Claire Danes first hinted that the show was coming to a close after season 8, Showtime officially confirmed the news on Monday during the Television Critics Association press tour.
Showtime president and CEO David Nevins announced the news while adding that the show is not being cancelled but instead coming to an end on its own terms.
“I do not want to hear the word cancellation,” Nevins stated “Alex Gansa will bring the show to its proper conclusion.”
‘Homeland’ has been a critically acclaimed drama since its first season when the show winning eight Emmy awards including one for Best Drama as well as a pair of trophies for leading actress for Danes.
There’s no word yet on when the final season of ‘Homeland’ will debut but it’s expected to return during the first part of 2019.
