The new film will be directed by David Gordon Green with a script by Danny McBride with hopes of re-ignited the once famed franchise to its horror roots.
Now the newest installment into the ‘Halloween’ franchise is not only expected to be a sequel but also a reboot of sorts.
From the sound of things the new ‘Halloween’ film will serve as a direct sequel to ‘Halloween II’, which starred Curtis and was released back in 1981. That means this new ‘Halloween’ film will do away with all the other canon from the ‘Halloween’ franchise with a fresh start when the film is released in 2018.
Original ‘Halloween’ creator John Carpenter will serve as an executive producer on the project and he’s even given notes on the film during the early stages of production. There are talks ongoing for Carpenter to return to score the film as well.
Landing Curtis in the lead role is a huge addition for the upcoming ‘Halloween’ movie as the filmmakers behind the project look to bring a former horror movie juggernaut back to the gory days.
