Jenna Ortega is just about the hottest star in Hollywood right now and it appears after “Scream 6” she’s ready to jump into another major sequel…
Jenna Ortega might just be the busiest person in Hollywood these days.
On the eve the release of her next film “Scream 6” in theaters, Ortega is now in talks to star in the upcoming “Beetlejuice 2” sequel from director Tim Burton.
Of course, Ortega is familiar with Burton after working with the famed director on “Wednesday”— the hit Netflix spinoff series based on “The Addams Family” that’s already been renewed for season 2. In addition to her success on “Wednesday,” Ortega also starred in “Scream 5” prior to returning for “Scream 6” and she also had a major role in Ti West’s breakout horror hit “X” in 2022.
Burton is expected to return to helm the sequel after he also directed the original film that was released back in 1988 that starred Michael Keaton, Alec Baldwin, Geena Davis, Jeffrey Jordan, Catherine O’Hara and Winona Ryder.
Production on “Beetlejuice 2” will reportedly start in London in late May or June once a budget for the film is finalized, which also hinges on Ortega officially signing onto the project. Assuming all deals get done, Ortega is expected to play the daughter of Lydia Deetz, the character Ryder portrayed in the original film.
Keaton is also expected to reprise his starring role from the original film but it’s unknown if any of the other cast members — including Ryder — might return for the sequel.
