Jennifer Love Hewitt hinted at her potential return to the “I Know What You Did Last Summer” reboot that’s currently in the works…
It looks like Jennifer Love Hewitt is ready to revisit one of her most famous roles.
With plans to reboot the “I Know What You Did Last Summer” franchise with Jennifer Kaytin Robinson — best known for her work on the Netflix film “Do Revenge” — on board to direct the upcoming film, Hewitt addressed her potential return after rumors swirled that she would be reprising her role as Julie James alongside her on screen boyfriend Freddie Prinze Jr, who also starred in the original film and the subsequent sequel.
“I can’t confirm but I won’t deny,” Hewitt told Entertainment Tonight when asked about returning to “I Know What You Did Last Summer. “How about that?”
Hewitt couldn’t give too much away, especially since she hasn’t read a script for the project yet but she’s obviously been approached about the idea. Her last appearance in the franchise came back in 1998 when she starred in “I Still Know What You Did Last Summer.”
These days, Hewitt is a very happy wife and mother, who also stars on the hit series “9-1-1” but she’s obviously never forgotten her horror roots.
“Well she’s old,” Hewitt joked about her character. “I tell you that much. She’s 45. She’s a lot older than she was but still kick ass for sure.
“Here’s the truth, I don’t actually know what they have planned. I have not seen [the script] yet but I’m assuming that it will be a lots of screaming and running around and hopefully the tops will be a little bigger than they were the first movie. I’m 45.”
The script is being written by Leah McKendrick and by all accounts the film will serve as a direct sequel to the original two films in the series but ignoring various sequels and reboots — including a short lived TV series — that carried on the franchise.
The original “I Know What You Did Last Summer” was directed by Jim Gillespie from a script written by Kevin Williamson, who was also responsible for the original “Scream” films as well.
