Jeremy Renner will get back in front of the cameras for the first time to start filming “Mayor of Kingstown” season 3 after a snowplow accident nearly cost him his life…
Almost exactly one year after Jeremy Renner nearly lost his life in a horrific snowplow accident, the veteran actor is getting back to work again.
Renner revealed that he’s about to start filming “Mayor of Kingstown” season 3 for Paramount Plus with production kicking off next week on the crime drama that also stars Dianne Wiest, Aidan Gillen and Emma Laird. It will be his first job since the near fatal accident that happened on his property in Nevada when Renner tried to divert a snowplow from running over his nephew but he ended up being trampled by the machine.
He was airlifted to a hospital where he suffered from blunt trauma to the chest and later revealed that he broke 30 bones as a result of the accident on New Year’s Day 2023.
“I think I’m ready,” Renner said during the CNN New Year’s Eve telecast. “I think I’m strong enough. We’ll see. I mean, I literally go back in a week.
“I’m just so blessed that I had so many things to live for. I have a giant family. I have a 10-year-old daughter. I would’ve disappointed and really messed up a lot of people’s lives if I would’ve passed, and so there’s a lot for me to get better for.”
Renner teased his return to work while sharing a post from Laird on social media after she talked about production starting on “Mayor of Kingstown” season 3, where she’s served as a co-star since the debut.
It’s been a long road back while recovering from the litany of injuries he suffered but Renner never wavered in his desire to not only get back on his feet again but get back to work doing what he loves the most.
“There was a lot for me to fight for, and recovery was just a one-way road in my mind,” Renner said. “My recovery became relief for me, because I knew I could give relief to my family, my daughter and to all those that I really affected.”
“Mayor of Kingstown” — a series from “Yellowstone” co-creator Taylor Sheridan and Hugh Dillon, who also stars on the show — follows Renner’s character Mike McLusky, a power broker in a town in Michigan where prisons are the main source of business and he attempts to keep the police, the gangs and the convicts from burning everything to the ground.
There’s no word yet when the series will return to Paramount Plus but with production starting again in January, it’s likely the show could potentially debut season 3 before the end of 2024.
