Jordan Peele says he’s not done telling stories set in the world of “Nope” after his latest film was released in theaters….
When the final trailer for Jordan Peele’s latest film “Nope” arrived ahead of the release, there was a brief clip featuring a character who never ended up appearing in the movie.
Now that’s not necessarily uncommon — trailer edits often include footage that later gets cut and never actually appears in the film but Peele’s most attentive fans couldn’t help but notice a character listed as “Nobody” on the film’s IMDB page as played by actor Michael Busch, who never actually shows up in the film.
Peele never seems to do anything by mistake in his movies and it seems the folks who caught that very brief glimpse at a moment that never appeared in “Nope” were onto something.
“People are doing a lot of interesting detective work, is what’s going on,” Peele told The New York Times. “The story of that character has yet to be told, I can tell you that. Which is another frustrating way of saying, I’m glad people are paying attention.
“I do think [fans] will get more answers on some of these things in the future. We’re not over telling all of these stories.”
The fact that Peele has acknowledged that character does play a larger part in a future story hints at a potential sequel to “Nope” or at least some sort of project that will be set in that same universe.
“Nope” centered around a family of horse trainers who are convinced that a UFO is hovering near their ranch and the brother and sister duo struggling to make it by financially in the wake of their father’s death decide that capturing an alien on film would be the perfect way to earn a whole lot of money.
To date, “Nope” has earned more than $100 million at the box office, which makes this another smash hit for Peele following his Oscar winning film “Get Out” as well as his critically acclaimed follow up “Us.”
