Marvel may have found another heavy hitter to join Brie Larson in ‘Captain Marvel’….
Jude Law — who will play a young Albus Dumbledore in the upcoming Harry Potter spinoff ‘Fantastic Beasts’ sequel — is now in talks to land a lead role opposite Brie Larson in Marvel’s ‘Captain Marvel’.
Law is expected to play Dr. Walter Lawson better known as Mar-Vell, who is a member of the alien race of Kree and a mentor to Captain Marvel.
‘Captain Marvel’ centers around Air Force pilot Carol Danvers (Larson), whose body is infused with alien powers after she’s involved in an accident. Ben Mendelsohn (Rogue One) is in talks to play the main villain in the film, which is expected to introduce the Skrulls — a shape shifting alien race — into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
It was first revealed at San Diego Comic Con that ‘Captain Marvel’ will take place in the early 1990’s with Samuel L. Jackson also expected to make an appearance as a younger Nick Fury long before the Avengers were ever a team.
‘Captian Marvel’ is due out on March 8, 2019.
