‘Karate Kid’ actor Robert Garrison died this week at age 59 months after he had returned to his iconic role in the YouTube series ‘Cobra Kai’…
Robert Garrison — best known for playing Cobra Kai member Tommy in ‘The Karate Kid’ — has passed away. He was 59 years old.
As of now there’s been no cause of death reported but Garrison was apparently dealing with an illness for quite some time before his unfortunate passing.
Garrison portrayed Tommy in both ‘The Karate Kid’ and ‘The Karate Kid Part II” before returning to the role during ‘Cobra Kai’ season 2 on YouTube. ‘Cobra Kai’ carried on the story of ‘The Karate Kid’ and Garrison came back to play Tommy in an emotionally packed episode where his friends come to visit him while he was hospitalized before all of them gathered together for one last adventure.
“Rob was a great person and ambassador to The Karate Kid legacy,” Garrison’s rep Rick Henriques said in a statement to Deadline. ” His performance in Season 2 of Cobra Kai, being his last, was simply amazing and he stole the episode. He will be missed by me and everyone he encountered”
According to ‘Cobra Kai’ producer Jon Hurwitz, there were plans to include Garrison in ‘Cobra Kai’ season 3 as well and he paid homage to the actor on Twitter on Friday following word of his death.
I'm heartened to know how much Rob enjoyed and cherished his time working on Cobra Kai. We were looking forward to seeing his smiling face again this season, as we had plans for Tommy to ride again. But he'll remain in our thoughts every day as we strive to make him proud. #RIP pic.twitter.com/QBjcfJPMq4
