Keanu Reeves just dropped the first issue of his new comic book “BRZRKR” and now he’ll star in a film and anime adaptation of the story for Netflix…
Keanu Reeves is ready to go berserk.
Fresh off the record breaking sales for issue No. 1 of his new comic book series “BRZRKR” from Boom Studios with more than 615,000 copies sold, Reeves has now signed onto star in a film and anime series adaptation at Netflix.
The announcement was made on Monday.
Reeves developed “BRZRKR” alongside Matt Kindt with illustrations by famed Marvel artist Ron Garney, colors by Bill Crabtree (BPRD), letters by Clem Robins, and character designs and covers by Rafael Grampá.
While the first issue of the comic was just released in March, the story of “BRZRKR” is “a brutally epic saga about an immortal warrior’s 80,000 year fight through the ages. The man known only as “B” (Reeves) is half-mortal and half-god, cursed and compelled to violence… even at the sacrifice of his sanity. But after wandering the earth for centuries, B may have finally found a refuge – working for the U.S. government to fight the battles too violent and too dangerous for anyone else. In exchange, B will be granted the one thing he desires – the truth about his endless blood-soaked existence… and how to end it.”
Reeves will star in the live action adaptation of “BRZRKR” as well as voice his same character in the anime series that will take a deeper dive into other parts of the same universe.
Ever since Reeves announced his plans for the comic book series, it’s been expected that he would eventually develop this into a film or possibly a limited series and it certainly didn’t take long for Netflix to jump on board for the project.
Reeves is a very busy man these days after wrapping up production on “The Matrix 4” sequel that’s coming out soon and he’s also preparing for filming for the upcoming “John Wick 4” film as well.
