Kit Harington: ‘I Don’t Give a F–k’ If People Feel Let Down About the Final Season of ‘Game of Thrones’

Kit Harington has zero fucks to give over the complaints and criticisms regarding the final season of ‘Game of Thrones’ after the efforts put forth by the entire crew…

Kit Harington has spent much of his adult life playing the bastard son of Winterfell Jon Snow on the hugely popular series ‘Game of Thrones’ so it’s understandable why he might lash out at critics who have complained incessantly about the final season of the show.

The reactions to the series finale have been mixed but like it, love it or hate it, ‘Game of Thrones’ transcended pop culture for the better part of eight years in a way that no other television show may have ever done before.

While it’s typical that a series would receive praise or criticism for the final season, Harington isn’t going to sit around and lose any sleep over the opinions of other people, especially when he knows how much hard work and dedication was poured into the last six episodes of ‘Game of Thrones’.

“How I feel about the show right now is quite defiant,” Harington said when speaking to Esquire. “I think no matter what anyone thinks about this season — and I don’t mean to sound mean about critics here — but whatever critic spends half an hour writing about this season and makes their [negative] judgement on it, in my head they can go fuck themselves. ‘Cause I know how much work was put into this. I know how much people cared about this. I know how much pressure people put on themselves and I know how many sleepless nights working or otherwise people had on this show. Because they cared about it so much. Because they cared about the characters. Because they cared about the story. Because they cared about not letting people down.
“Now if people feel let down by it, I don’t give a fuck —because everyone tried their hardest. That’s how I feel. In the end, no one’s bigger fans of the show than we are, and we’re kind of doing it for ourselves. That’s all we could do, really. And I was just happy we got to the end.”

Harington is just the latest cast member from ‘Game of Thrones’ answering to the criticisms about the final season including an online petition that was started asking HBO to reshoot the entire final season.

Of course there was no way possible that the showrunners behind ‘Game of Thrones’ — David Benioff and Dan Weiss — were going to be able to end the series in a way that satisfied all of the fans no matter what happened in those last six episodes.

But the cast and crew from the series are understandably protective of the work they did because for actors like Harington, this was eight years of work that is now being ripped apart because of these final six episodes.

Obviously, Harington is proud of the accomplishment that the cast and crew had on ‘Game of Thrones’ and he’s not going to pay attention to any of the negativity being thrown his way now that it’s over.
