The first season finale of ‘Mayans M.C.’ will feature a ‘significant’ crossover with ‘Sons of Anarchy’ according to series creator Kurt Sutter…
Throughout the course of the first season of ‘Mayans M.C.’ there have been several nods to ‘Sons of Anarchy’ — the series where the rival outlaw motorcycle club originated.
The debut episode featured a brief cameo by Katey Sagal, who returned for a split second as Gemma Teller-Morroe in a prison scene alongside ‘Mayans M.C.’ own EZ Reyes (played by JD Pardo). Since that time there have been several other slight references to ‘Sons of Anarchy’ including former accountant turned two-fingered club mascot Chucky, who has become a fixture with the Mayans as well as U.S. assistant district attorney Lincoln Potter serving as the main antagonist during the second half of the season.
‘Sons of Anarchy’ and ‘Mayans M.C.’ creator Kurt Sutter wasn’t willing to say much about the first season finale that airs on FX on Tuesday night at 10 p.m. but he could say there will be a major collision between those two shows in this upcoming episode.
“I would say that the finale, there will be a significant ‘Sons’ intersection between mythologies,” Sutter teased when speaking to IMDB.
Sutter wouldn’t expand on that hint but it’s clear there will be some kind of major event that happens during the season one finale of ‘Mayans M.C.’ that ties back to ‘Sons of Anarchy’.
Since the spinoff series first began, Sutter said he didn’t want to lean on ‘Sons of Anarchy’ too much because he wanted to leave that mythology alone and not try to change much from the way he left that series when it ended in 2014.
Whatever is happening in the season one finale of ‘Mayans M.C.’, it’s big enough that Sutter feels like it was time to bring those two worlds together but what exactly unfolds won’t be known until Tuesday night.
