Two more DC based series have been cancelled at The CW after “Legends of Tomorrow” and “Batwoman” both came to an end this week…

“Legends of Tomorrow” and “Batwoman” have both been cancelled at The CW.

The news was announced this week as the network continues cost cutting measures in anticipation of a potential sale that could dramatically alter the original series currently airing on The CW.

For “Legends of Tomorrow” the end comes after the series ended season 7 on a cliffhanger that sadly will never be resolved after showrunner Keto Shimizu announced via Twitter that the CW wasn’t going to renew the show for another year.

Well, folks. It’s been an incredible run. However, the CW has let us know that there will be no season 8 of #LegendsOfTomorrow. We are heartbroken, but also immensely grateful for the amazing work our cast, crew, and writers have contributed to the little show that could.

“Legends of Tomorrow” was one of the longest running series on The CW alongside “The Flash,” which has already been renewed for a ninth and potentially final season.

Meanwhile, The CW also brought “Batwoman” to a close after a three somewhat tumultuous seasons on that show after original series star Ruby Rose left after the first season, which forced a huge change in the dynamic after new lead actress Javacia Leslie stepped in as a completely new character for the second season.

“Batwoman” showrunner Caroline Dries announced that her series was also not going forward for a fourth season at The CW.

While DC shows like “Batwoman” and “Legends of Tomorrow” have been cornerstone programming for The CW over the years, the network seems to be shifting gears with many of the so called “Arrow-verse” shows coming to an end.

In the past, The CW has typically allowed many of these series to reach a natural conclusion or allow the shows to plan ahead for a final season like what happened recently with “Supergirl.” Apparently, the network has changed course with both “Legends of Tomorrow” and “Batwoman” ending on cliffhangers prior to their cancellations.

Right now, “The Flash” and “Superman and Lois” have already been renewed for an additional season while freshman “Naomi” is still up in the air while the third season of “Stargirl” has yet to debut. Other series like “Arrow” and “Black Lightning” had already come to an end and it remains to be seen how many more DC series will get into development given the current status at The CW.
