In the latest episode of Rewind of the Living Dead, we’re going to strap on our ballerina shoes and sharpen our wooden stakes as we review the 2024 horror-comedy “Abigail”…

After successfully relaunching the “Scream” franchise, the team at Radio Silence comprised of directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett were approached about tackling a story set among the Universal Classic Monsters after past films like “The Invisible Man” and “Renfield” were released.

The directing team along with frequent collaborator and screenwriter Guy Busick decided to tackle a film very loosely based on the 1938 movie called “Dracula’s Daughter” but their movie would take a much different swing at the story with a modern twist.

The directors and writers ultimately crafted a tale that starts out as a heist movie about a group of anonymous criminals teamed together to kidnap a young girl with hopes that her wealthy father will pay a hefty ransom to get her back.

It’s only after they are locked away in a mansion and told to keep the child safe for 24 hours until the money gets paid does this team of kidnappers realize they’re the ones being hunted….
