After moving from FOX to Netflix, ‘Lucifer’ will finish out its run with a fifth and final season after being renewed on Thursday…
‘Lucifer’ will rise for one last story.
The former FOX series that was cancelled and later rescued by Netflix has officially been renewed for a fifth and final season on the streaming giant as announced on Thursday.
The Warner Bros. owned show was initially on FOX for three seasons but despite popularity amongst a hardcore group of fans, the overall ratings were not enough for the network to bring it back for a fourth season.
‘Lucifer’ was shopped around and Netflix eventually picked up the series for 10 episodes in season 4, which debuted earlier this year. Now the show based on the DC Comics character of the same name will get a fifth and final season to close out the story.
“We are so incredibly thankful to Netflix for resurrecting our show last season, and now letting us finish the story of Lucifer on our terms,” showrunners Joe Henderson and Ildy Modrovich said in a statement released on Thursday. “Most importantly, we want to thank the fans for their incredible passion and support. The best is yet to come!”
The final season of ‘Lucifer’ will likely pick up production later this year with an expected 2020 release date on Netflix.
