Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige doesn’t typically address rumors but he went as far as denying reports that Chris Evans would be returning as Captain America…

It appears Chris Evans really has thrown his last shield as Captain America after all.

Reports surfaced recently that Evans was in talks with Marvel Studios about potentially returning as Captain America for at least a small role in an upcoming movie or project. While Evans wasn’t expected to headline another movie, he was supposedly negotiating a possible return after previously stating that he was putting Captain America behind him once and for all following “Avengers: Endgame.”

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige rarely takes time to respond to rumors because there are seemingly dozens everyday about some upcoming film or television series in the works but he actually took time this week to deny that Evans would be returning as Captain America.

“I rarely answer no to anything anymore because things are always surprising me with what happens, but that rumor, I think, was dispelled rather quickly by the man himself,” Feige told EW when referencing Evans’ message on Twitter when the news first surfaced.

At the time, Evans simply said “news to me” and with that the rumor about his return more or less faded away.

Now with Marvel promoting the upcoming launch of “Falcon and Winter Soldier” on Friday, March 19, Feige was asked directly about Evans’ potential return but it appears he’s steadfast in Captain America staying retired.

Of course then again, Feige would almost certainly never confirm the rumors, especially if Evans’ return is considered a well guarded secret with upcoming plans within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Still, Evans has been rather adamant about moving beyond his career with Marvel Studios while booking new projects in the wake of his last appearance as Captain America in “Avengers: Endgame.”

For now, “Falcon and Winter Solider” will look to carry on Cap’s legacy with his old friends Sam Wilson aka Falcon and Bucky Barnes aka The Winter Soldier teaming up together to take down Baron Zemo.
