Marvel Studios has offered updates on several upcoming films including “Thor: Love and Thunder” and the third “Ant-Man” film…
As part of the recent Disney investor’s meeting, Marvel Studios made several announcements for upcoming movies including several major cast roles being added.
First up was confirmation of the long rumored news that Christian Bale would be joining “Thor: Love and Thunder” from director Taika Waititi. Bale is not only joining the film but it appears he’ll be portraying the primary villain in the fourth film in the “Thor” series.
Bale is playing Gorr the God Butcher, who is actually a relatively new character in the Marvel Universe after he first appeared in the comic books in 2012. It’s unknown how closely Gorr’s origin story in “Thor: Love and Thunder” will mimic his comic book story but in that version he is born on a desolate planet with no name while being taught to pray to the gods and trust in them.

Sadly, no gods ever answered and Gorr faced all sorts of horrific events throughout his life including the death of his mate and all of their children. He ends up cursing the gods while proclaiming that they aren’t real, which ends up with Gorr being cast out of his homeland. On the brink of death and praying for the end to come, Gorr witnesses a pair of gods battling it out on his home planet, which only infuriates him even more after realizing that the deities do exist yet they’ve never answered him.
As the dark god begs for help, Gorr ends up bonding with his sword, which becomes a new weapon called the “All Black necrosword.” He kills both gods and then declares his vengeance towards all gods, who never answered his prayers. That eventually leads to a confrontation with Thor.
News about the third “Ant-Man” film was also confirmed with the title of the movie announced — “Ant-Man 3: Quantumania.”

The third film in the “Ant-Man” series will see Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Michael Douglas and Michelle Pfeiffer reprise their roles from the previous films. As previously reported, “Lovecraft Country” star Jonathan Majors will portray Kang the Conquerer, who may serve as the conduit to an even bigger Marvel Cinematic Universe being introduced.
Also, Kathryn Newton — who just recent starred in the Blumhouse horror-comedy “Freaky” — was announced to play the new Cassie Lang aka Scott Lang’s daughter.
There was also official confirmation about “Captain Marvel 2,” which will see Brie Larson return to the lead role as Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel and she will be joined by Teyonah Parris, who plays an adult Monica Rambeau after she was just a child in the first “Captain Marvel” movie.
Before she appears in “Captain Marvel 2,” Parris will portray Monica Rambeau on the upcoming “WandaVision” series, which debuts on Disney+ in January.
Iman Vellani has also joined the cast of “Captain Marvel 2” after she was announced in the lead role for the new “Ms. Marvel” series coming to Disney+. “Captain Marvel 2” will land in theaters on Nov. 11, 2022.
