Get a first look at “Mayans M.C.” season 3, which debuts on FX in March as the “Sons of Anarchy” spinoff prepares for a “reckoning”…
When “Mayans M.C.” came to a close with season 2 in 2019, EZ Reyes had finally become a full patched member of the club after he exacted his revenge on Dita Galindo after learning that she was the person responsible for ordering a hit that got his mother killed.
To make matters even messier, Bishop and the rest of the Santo Padre chapter of the Mayans went against orders by taking vengeance against Vatos Malditos — a rival club from Mexico that was expected to help with the gun trade being absorbed from the Sons of Anarchy. In their thirst for revenge, the Mayans gunned down the Vatos but somehow let the club president Palo escape but even worse was the fact that a member of the SAMCRO chapter was accidentally cut down with the rest of those murdered.
Add to that, Angel is left with his personal life ripped apart after Adelita was arrested by the U.S. government and taken into custody where she just gave birth to their child.
That means the Mayans are going to face all sorts of problems when season 3 begins and now we know when that will actually happen.
“Mayans M.C.” will return from an extended hiatus with season 3 debuting on FX on Tuesday night, March 16 and there’s lots of business to handle when the show returns.
“Mayans M.C.” showrunner Elgin James, who will be leading the “Sons of Anarchy” spinoff this season without original creator Kurt Sutter by his side for the first time, teased what lies ahead when the new episodes begin.
“Season 3 picks up just a few months after the slaughter of the Vatos Malditos,” James said when speaking to EW. “EZ, now fully patched, struggles to find his footing within the club’s hierarchy and, haunted by his murder of Dita, finds himself torn between darkness and the gravitational pull of his new love interest. Angel, gutted after having Adelita [Carla Baratta] and his child ripped away from him, loses himself in sex, booze, and violence, until a shot at redemption lands on his doorstep.
“Coco [Richard Cabral] spirals on a journey into hell as his demons finally overwhelm him. Alvarez [Emilio Rivera] will be forced to decide once and for all where his loyalties truly lie, with the Mayans or with Galindo [Danny Pino]. And ghosts of the past come calling for all of the M.C., both individually and as a club; from past loss and loves, to a dead SOA member buried in the Mexican desert. This is a season about reckoning. This is the season we get to know these characters beyond the kutte. This is the season we tell their stories.”
Judging by James’ teaser, there’s going to be a lot of potential bloodshed coming during “Mayans M.C.” season 3 as the club deals with the fall out of their war with the Vatos Malditos and the dead member of the Sons of Anarchy. Obviously, EZ will still be putting together the pieces after he murdered Dita Galindo and there will undoubtedly be more to come from that situation, especially if Miguel Galindo ever learns the truth that his real father is actually Felipe Reyes.
