“Mayans M.C.” was already renewed for a fifth season but now that will be the final run for the “Sons of Anarchy” spinoff…
“Mayans M.C.” will return for one final run.
The “Sons of Anarchy” spinoff series, which had already been renewed this past summer, will now come to an end with the fifth and final season that’s currently in production.
FX made the announcement on Thursday as part of an up front presentation looking ahead at the year of programming on the network.
“Mayans M.C.” season 4 ended with former prospect EZ Reyes orchestrating a takeover at the Santo Padre chapter of the motorcycle club as he ousted founder and leader Marcus Alvarez before eventually taking over as president of the charter. EZ plotted a course for the MC to get deeper into business with a Mexican drug cartel without knowing that somebody was already sabotaging his plan by burning down a warehouse filled with heroin. To make matters worse, the Mayans are also engaged in a bloody war with the Sons of Anarchy, which has already cost the lives of several members across both clubs.
Series star JD Pardo, who plays EZ Reyes, commented on the announcement while confirming that this was the plan all along as the writers and producers behind the show had already been working towards a conclusion while filming season 5.
“This was a creative decision that we made together,” Pardo wrote. “I will address this with a little more thought when I get a moment. We are on set filming Season 5 right now. Can’t wait for you all to see what’s in store this season!
“A lot of thought went into this. I’ve been killed off of shows, had shows canceled, etc. This is different because the decision is ours. I have no regrets. I just have love and gratitude for the fans and the opportunity we were given.”

“Mayans M.C.” launched following the immense success of “Sons of Anarchy,” which was the most watched show in FX history over the seven seasons the series aired on the network. Following the finale, series creator Kurt Sutter worked alongside Elgin James to craft a new show centered around a rival motorcycle club that frequented “Sons of Anarchy” as both friend and enemy over the years.
Sutter eventually left the series after he split with FX, which left James to run the show by himself but he had already hinted that “Mayans M.C.” was likely headed towards a conclusion in the near future.
Now James and company will get a chance to end the show on their terms with “Mayans M.C.” returning for a fifth and final season.
There’s no word yet when the final season of “Mayans M.C.” will air but the show is currently in production so it’s likely for a late 2023 or even early 2024 premiere.
