There’s a new “Evil Dead” spinoff film already in the works with director Sébastien Vaniček taking on the Deadites this time following the success of “Evil Dead Rise”….
The “Evil Dead” universe will expand again with a new film on the way from director Sébastien Vaniček.
Vaniček will serve as the director and co-writer for the latest sequel in the “Evil Dead” franchise with series creator Sam Raimi’s Ghost House Pictures serving as the producer.
The latest spinoff comes on the heels of the success of “Evil Dead Rise” in 2023, which was directed by Lee Cronin and earned more than $147 million at the box office and making it the most successful “Evil Dead” film to date.
There are no plot details available yet for the new “Evil Dead” film but this formula follows Raimi’s overall plans for the franchise as he continues to seek out exciting new filmmakers to take a stab at their own ideas for a movie set in the universe he created more than 40 years ago. The original film — “The Evil Dead” — starred Bruce Campbell as Ash Williams and he’s forced to fight back against demonic forces unleashed after reading from the Necronomicon.
Two more original films followed — “Evil Dead 2” and “The Army of Darkness” — with Campbell eventually reprising his role as Ash for a TV series titled “Ash vs. The Evil Dead.” In 2013, director Fede Alvarez produced his own “Evil Dead” reboot, which also did very well at the box office after earning nearly $100 million.
Now that the “Evil Dead” franchise has officially been revived with the success of “Evil Dead Rise,” Raimi is wasting no time to begin work on the next sequel.
As for Vaniček, he made his directorial debut in 2023 with the film “Infested” that pits the residents of a rundown French apartment building against an army of deadly, rapidly reproducing spiders. The film won Best Picture and Best Director when it debuted at Fantastic Fest with the movie expected to land in the U.S. streaming service Shudder later this year.
There’s no word yet when the new “Evil Dead” film will go into production but now that a director has been secured, the next step will be the screenplay and casting.
