The first trailer for the new Halloween movie has arrived with a deeper look at Laurie Strode and Michael Myers 40 years later…
Halloween is back in a big way.
The highly anticipated sequel due out on October 19 dropped its first trailer on Friday with the first real details about the plot involved for the newest film in the franchise. The new Halloween is considered a direct sequel to the 1978 classic by John Carpenter and Debra Hill and ignores all of the other films in the series.
By the look of things, a journalist gets the idea to visit Michael Myers in the psychiatric ward where he’s spent the last 40 years after butchering several kids on Halloween night 40 years earlier. Somehow this stirs Michael up for the first time since that fateful night because before long, he on the hunt again for Laurie Strode.
Laurie (played by the wonderful Jamie Lee Curtis) has moved on with her life since that night back in 1978 with a family and even a granddaughter in her life. But she’s never forgotten about Michael Myers and in many ways, Laurie spent the past 40 years preparing for him to return.
The new Halloween sequel also seems to do away with the plot threat that Laurie Strode was actually Michael Myers’ sister as well.
The trailer is a pulse-pumping homage to the past and future of the Halloween franchise and looks very strong at least based on the two minutes of footage we’ve now seen!
Take a look at the trailer and get ready for Halloween on Oct. 19.
