The new ‘X-Men: Dark Phoenix’ trailer debuted on Wednesday night with a deeper look at Jean Grey’s transformation and the collective forces coming together to stop her…
As Disney prepares to fully take over FOX in the very near future — most likely in March — the last remnants of the old X-Men film universe are just about to roll out.
One of the final two films that were already in production or finished when the sale was finalized is set for release on June 7 as ‘X-Men: Dark Phoenix’ prepares to land in theaters with a new trailer debuting on Wednesday night.
One of the most famous comic book storylines in history, ‘X-Men: Dark Phoenix’ will adapt that for the new film with the younger group of characters introduced in ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ taking front and center with ‘Game of Thrones’ star Sophie Turner as Jean Grey. Here’s a synopsis of the movie:
“The X-MEN face their most formidable and powerful foe: one of their own, Jean Grey. During a rescue mission in space, Jean is nearly killed when she is hit by a mysterious cosmic force. Once she returns home, this force not only makes her infinitely more powerful, but far more unstable. Wrestling with this entity inside her, Jean unleashes her powers in ways she can neither comprehend nor contain.
“With Jean spiraling out of control, and hurting the ones she loves most, she begins to unravel the very fabric that holds the X-Men together. Now, with this family falling apart, they must find a way to unite — not only to save Jean’s soul, but to save our very planet from aliens who wish to weaponize this force and rule the galaxy.”
While no official word has come from Disney, it’s likely that this may be the last film with these stars playing the X-Men roles as Marvel Studios is expected to take over the franchise in 2019.
