The latest James Bond sequel “No Time to Die” had its release date pushed back several months due to the ongoing coronavirus outbreak…
The latest James Bond sequel will not be seen by audiences until much later in 2020.
“No Time to Die,” which was originally scheduled for release on April 2 in the United Kingdom and April 10 in the United States has now been pushed back until the last part of 2020 due to the ongoing coronavirus outbreak that is hitting numerous countries all over the world.
The new release date for “No Time to Die” will be November 12 in the U.K. followed by a November 25 release date in the U.S.
“MGM, Universal and Bond producers, Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, announced today that after careful consideration and thorough evaluation of the global theatrical marketplace, the release of No Time to Die will be postponed until November 2020. The film will be released in the U.K. on November 12, 2020 with worldwide release dates to follow, including the U.S. launch on November 25, 2020″
Production costs on “No Time to Die” ran around $200 million not to mention another massive investment in advertising and marketing for the film, which could take a major hit due to the ongoing spread of the coronavirus across the globe. Major markets in Japan, South Korea, Italy and China have closed theaters in the wake of the deadly virus infecting more than 93,000 people globally with deaths exceeding 3,200 already.
The United States has already seen at least 11 people die of the disease.
The spread of the coronavirus has caused numerous events to be cancelled with several high profile studios backing out of appearances. Amazon and Netflix have both dropped out of the prestigious South by Southwest festival in Austin, Texas and comic book companies such as DC and Marvel have pulled out of appearances at the upcoming Emerald City Comic Con in Seattle, Washington.
As of now, “No Time to Die” is the first major studio film to delay its release date due to the coronavirus but it’s entirely possible more movies will follow suit depending on the severity and the spread of the disease in coming months.
