There had been a ton of speculation surrounding the end of ‘Orange is the New Black’ following the conclusion of season 6 where Piper — the lead character on the ensemble series — (Taylor Schilling) was released from prison.
“After seven seasons, it’s time to be released from prison. I will miss all the badass ladies of Litchfield and the incredible crew we’ve worked with. My heart is orange but fade to black,” ‘Orange is the New Black’ creator Jenji Kohan said in a statement.
‘Orange is the New Black’ was one of the first original series created for Netflix following ‘House of Cards’ and both of those shows have been amongst the most watched on the streaming network.
‘House of Cards’ is also coming to an end with its final season debuting in November.
There’s no exact date for the final season of ‘Orange is the New Black’ to debut but it’s expected to land in Spring 2019 for the last remaining episodes.
