‘The Batman’ has finally found at least one of its villains as Emmy nominated actor Paul Dano has joined the cast as the Riddler…
‘The Batman’ is finally started to fill out the rogues gallery.
Paul Dano — best known for his roles in films such as ‘There Will Be Blood’ as well as an Emmy nominated performance in the Showtime series ‘Escape from Dannemora — has been cast in the role of The Riddler for the upcoming film directed by Matt Reeves.
Dano joins a growing cast in ‘The Batman’ that already includes Robert Pattinson in the lead role alongside Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman and Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon.
Dano’s casting comes just a day after Jonah Hill officially dropped out of negotiations to potentially play either the Riddler or the Penguin in the same movie. According to reports, Reeves plans to pack a lot of villains into this movie but it’s unclear how many will actually play a major role in the overall plot that is expected to focus on a story during the early days of Batman’s career as a vigilante hero.
The version of the Riddler in this film will be named Edward Nashton, which is a departure from the comic book version of the character who is named Edward Nygma. It’s unclear why there has been a change in names but that’s the plan when the Riddler returns to the big screen for the first time since Jim Carrey played the part in 1995’s ‘Batman Forever’.
‘The Batman’ will be released into theaters on June 25, 2021.
