Fresh off his success with the Nicholas Cage film “Pig,” director Michael Sarnoski is now stepping into take over the upcoming spinoff based on “A Quiet Place”…
On the heels of rave reviews for his debut feature film “Pig,” which starred Nicholas Cage, Michael Sarnoski will direct the upcoming spinoff film based on “A Quiet Place.”
The film will be set in the same world as the first two movies that were written and directed by John Krasinski, except this one won’t be a direct sequel to either of those movies. Instead, Krasinski helped develop the story for the upcoming film but he will serve as an executive producer on this movie rather than acting as director or actor.
Sarnoski has quickly become one of the most talked about up and coming directors in Hollywood after his success with “Pig,” which featured Cage as a hermit living in the woods who is drawn back into his former life after his truffle hunting pig is stolen from him. The film has received overwhelmingly positive reviews with Cage potentially entering Oscar conversations for his performance.
According to reports, Krasinski identified Sarnoski as a potential candidate to take over the upcoming “Quiet Place” spinoff right away after seeing “Pig” and now it appears the director is nearing a deal with the studio to officially bring him on board.
While Krasinski was involved with the initial story for this spinoff, Sarnoski apparently had his own pitch that fell in line with what the studio was hoping to accomplish with another “Quiet Place” movie. The first two films in the franchise have been a critical and commercial success with the latest offering “A Quiet Place Part II” earning more than $297 million at the worldwide box office.
There’s no word yet on how quickly production might start on the “Quiet Place” spinoff but once Sarnoski’s deal is completed, the studio will likely get moving on the script and casting for the film.
