Writer and director Stephen Cognetti didn’t necessarily set out to create a horror movie when he got into filmmaking but there was something very attractive about the genre, especially when dealing with a budget for an independent film.
Driven by his love for abandoned buildings and a found footage style inspired by the movie “Lake Mungo,” Cognetti set his film inside a creepy old hotel where a group of friends have gathered to transform the space into a haunted house perfect for Halloween along with a documentary that’s being made about what actually happened on a tragic opening night.
The final result was a found footage classic that sits in rarified air alongside movies such as “The Blair Witch Project” and “Paranormal Activity.”
