In the latest episode of Rewind of the Living Dead, we’re going to light up the Christmas tree and hope that a bell rings as we review the 2023 film “It’s a Wonderful Knife”…

Screenwriter Michael Kennedy already tackled a genre-flipping horror story when he penned “Freaky,” which took the classic “Freaky Friday” and put a serial killer spin on it.

It was just after “Freaky” was released that Kennedy began work on his next script — and this time he was determined to make a Christmas horror film.

Watching friend and collaborator Christopher Landon take Groundhog Day and transform it into “Happy Death Day,” Kennedy decided to do the same thing with “It’s a Wonderful Life” except his story would center around a girl named Winnie who stops a serial killer slashing his way through her hometown but one year later, she’s suffering from survivor’s guilt and she decides that perhaps the world would have just been better off without her in it.

Needless to say, her wish is granted and Winnie soon discovers that her absence created far more mayhem than she could have ever expected…
